I took the 3d2n trip after have a great time with Orientalsails cruise. I was picked up from my hotel by a smaller bus and transferred to the sleeper bus from Hanoi and had a wonderful experience with Sua & Hao, 2 tour guides in Sapa. I visited Cat Cat village on day 1, trekking (memorable experience) on day 2 & spend time with a buffalo in love waterfall on day 3. I will recommend this tour to my friends and absolutely I will come back with them in the future.
We took the sleeper bus from Hanoi to Sapa – didn’t realise at the time what that involved but it was an experience and quite comfortable for the long drive.
Sapa is beautiful and not as frantic as Hanoi with more comfortable temperatures. We loved it. Our guide was Nga a young local Hmong girl with excellent English and one of those smiles that makes you smile. She was wonderful and completely made our two-day stay as great as it was. First day was a short 2km hike to Cat Cat village – down reasonably steep cobbled paths. It’s interesting and very pretty. The second day was a 9k hike to Lao Chai and Ta Van villages. Steep in places but mostly an easy walk. Scenery was stunning. It’s well worth doing. Wear good footwear. Meals were tasty and there was plenty of it. The hotel was clean and tidy with wifi. Staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a bit of waiting around for return buses to arrive – transfers could possibly be timed a little better but a minor issue. Overall we loved it and it was a fabulous experience we would never forget.
My sister and I did the 3 day trekking tour of Sapa. Our guide was an adorable, sweet local H’Mong woman named Hoa. What an amazing woman. We felt like we were getting very special treatment. It was only 5 people on the first day and just the 2 of us the next. We had great service, communication, everything. We highly recommend this tour company and Hoa as your tour guide, if you can get her.
The sleeper bus was comfortable. The request to take of shoes came as a bit of a shock but makes perfect sense. Blanket and pillow provided. The trekking is amazing, our guide was the best ever. Such a happy spirit. Her English and knowledge of the area were very good. We enjoyed our trekking with her a lot. Would have welcomed a heads up about the women and children following and offering help along the slippery paths. In the end the desire to say thank you became more of a hustle to buy something. This kind of support to the traditional way if life is understandable, but it would be helpful if one was more clear on what exchange would be expected at the end of the journey.
Its a pity to see so much construction of high rise hotels everywhere while the more traditional buildings at times in desperate need of a bit of an upgrade. One hopes this kind of development will not detract from the wonderful appeal of Sapa
These past three days I’ve had the privilege of exploring Sapa Valley with Tham from the Black Hmong tribe. She is a phenomenal tour guide, speaks excellent English and was happy to share all her knowledge about village life. She freshly picked local fruits and berries from the bushes as we walked by for us to sample. We saw her childhood home, school, met her son and her mother-in-law too. Tham, thanks for a great tour! I highly recommend Nay and I will definitely ask for Thamwhen I come back again.
Hay is a wonderful tour guide. Everything was extremely well organized. Views are spectacular. Keep in mind this is a slow paced tour. If you like to hustle, you’re going to be a little bored. It was perfect for me. Hotel is well located and very nice. Staff and meal place was great. Again, Hay made a big difference.
We did the 3 days/2 nights trip from Hanoi. We stayed at the View hotel which was wonderful. The staff were fantastic and very organised. Our room was big, clean, had all the amenities we needed along with a fantastic view of the mountains.
Cat cat village is a must, absolutely stunning beyond words. Our second day we trekked through a few villages with our wonderful guide Ban (excuse the spelling). Her English was fantastic and she was very knowledgeable .
I used this sleeping bus from Ha Noi to Sapa and return for my 3 days 2 nights trip. The bus was on time and the guide in bus was friendly. The trip from Ha noi to Sapa takes about 6 hours, but really comfortable in the bus. The bus stopped at a station on the way for us to relax, which was a good point.
Loved it all especially Ho, what a lovely lady, very knowledgeable, great English and very funny. Stayed at The View Sapa Hotel and room was huge, great breakfast and you can chose anything from menu for lunch and dinner. Luckily it was dry as think some of the paths could be treacherous in the wet. Some of the village ladies follow and help you with the difficult paths, some with babies on their backs! Want you to buy some of their goods at the end, which is fine, it’s the least we could do after all their help.
Sleeper bus is very comfortable and slept almost all the way there. Picked up and dropped to door of hotel in Hanoi all on time. Highly recommend this tour and make sure you tip guide well at end, they work incredibly hard to give you an experience you’ll never forget.
The sleeping bus took us from Hanoi to Sapa which was a good 5.5 hours drive with stop rest along the way. First time on a sleeper bus with a capacity of 40 pax. A smaller bus would pick up passengers from their hotel for obvious reasons because of the size of the sleeper bus. Imagine the bus around the small streets of Old Quarter. We were transferred from the small bus to the sleeper bus. We had to take our shoes off and put our shoes in a provided plastic bag when entering the sleeper bus. I was pleasantly surprised on the comfort level. A blanket is provided for warmth. The whole journey went by pretty quick because we slept on the most part of the journey. Scenery was interesting. Once we reached Sapa a local tour guide took over with the hotel transfer and trekking. Overall our guide was helpful and thoughtful for the entire trip. I loved her accent. I survived a 5.5 hrs bus trip with enjoyment.
We arrived at 1PM and had lunch at a nearby hotel. I then checked into my hotel ( I was the only one in the group staying there) an then took minibus to Cat Cat Village It’s basically a hilly walk, 2KM or so, of shops. The scenery behhind the shops is lovely. There is a waterfall with several water wheels which make good backdrops for photos. We also attended a cultural dance show, which was entertaining and only 1 minutes. I returned to the hotel at about 5:00 PM.
Day 2 was about a 7 KM hike with about 6 other people. So was our guide. She was wonderful….open, funny and full of knowledge about the area and the people. Her English is very good and she is completely self-taught.
The sleeper bus was ok, new to me. After arriving in Sapa we had a good lunch. Than we went on the hike to the homestay. We were with a small group . Our English lovely guide was the best! She explained about local culture and of course took us on a very nice and interesting hike. Challenging sometimes because of the rain and mud, in a good way. Testing our limits without passing them.
She knows the best spots and takes the best pictures. Knows how to avoid the crowds. Overall kind person and good guide. Definately recommend. The hotel was very good, nice and clean and the food was very good there. Overall good trip and value for money!
