Located in a lush valley, My Son was a capital and religious center of Cham people, now remaining with red brick towers and sanctuaries. My Son, considered to be in the same league as some of Southeast Asia’s greatest archaeological sites, including Angkor in Cambodia, Bagan in Myanmar, Ayutthaya in Thailand and Borobudur in Indonesia. These towers and sanctuaries was built from the 7 to 13 centuries.

We start with a visit the Imperial Citadel, which is a walled fortress and was intended to be a copy of Chinese Emperors’ Forbidden City in Beijing, China. After access the Ngo Mon Gate, we will take in the Purple Forbidden City. The Forbbiden City was reserved for the Nguyen royal family from the 18th century until the mid-1900s. Unfortunately, American bombing in 1968 in response to a communist takeover of Hue flattened most of the city. As we can see, only a few buildings are survived such as the Thai Hoa Temple, Can Thanh Temple, The Mieu, and Hieu Lam Cac, but all the remains make a well worth visit.

  6. Day 6: Hue - Fly to Ho Chi Minh (B)

    Morning flight to Saigon.

In the afternoon, we start by looking at the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office.

    • Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam. Then, we move on to see the Reunification Palace.
    • The Reunification Palace: This is one of the most important buildings in the city. Here on April 30th 1975 the ‘American War’ officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
    • War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war.

After that we drive to Ben thanh market:

    • Ben Thanh Market: This bustling market is very popular with tourists, primarily due to its central location. It has a wide selection of goods ranging from fake Nike shoes to beautiful silk Ao Dais.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

  7. Day7: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta day trip (B,)

The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam. It is often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam as it produces three harvests per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The Delta area marks the end of a 4,500km journey made by the Mekong River after having traveled through six countries. Traditional transportation in the Delta is by boat along a vast network of canals and channels.

We drive to My Tho, where we get on our private boat, which shall start off by driving us to Turtle Island, a beautiful island with many orchards. Here we can enjoy a variety of tropical fruits while listening to traditional South Vietnamese folk songs performed by local artists.

Then, we are going to a Bee Farm, where we can play with the pythons, try some honey tea, and taste local confectionery.

Finally, we will have a short rowing boat ride to our main boat, which in turn will take us to Phoenix island where will have our lunch.

After lunch, we go back to the harbor. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh.

My husband and I did a 8 day tour from north to south 3* deluxe standard. The hotels were all very clean comfortable and central. All the tours were excellent and the lunches were all to a high standard. We enjoyed meeting other travellers who came and went on some of the tours but also enjoyed having most evenings to ourselves. The guides were very good and we were picked up on time. Our car transfers for internal flights and to take us to our next destination were all very good with clean large comfortable cars and polite drivers. Our… Read more »

We had the most wonderful time in Vietnam, starting from Hanoi , Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, then finishing up in Ho Chi Min, all arranged by Angelina Ms. We found them on the internet and from the start Ms Angelina was so helpful in helping us decide the itinerary, booking all hotels, transport and internal flights, our holiday was hassle free.We Loved the trips especially on the boat in Hoi An. We will certainly use them again for future trips to Vietnam and Cambodia.

Travel with my wife in Vietnam for 8 days. From the very beginning to very end everything was very well organized end perfectly serviced. Thanks to Angelina Ms,we were upgraded to 5 stars cruise. Transfers from and to airports were on individual car and always on time. And I should mention that this trip by itself was perfectly design , including most of Vietnam and the different part of country. Very good choices of hotels, always located in convenience location, clean, comfortable and good food.Really worth the money spend.

For the cu chi tunnels was excellent Jimmy told us so much information , we where there early in the morning so there was no people around . We would recommend this company to people but most of all Jimmy. Pay a little more and get a private tour

This was a great opportunity to see and experience the culture and history of Vietnam. The country is so diverse with each destination providing a different experience. We had some fantastic food, drinks, tours and time to relax its hard to pick a favourite place. Hoi An, and Hanoi were great as was Halong Bay. We traveled North to South which worked well beginning at Hanoi city. If you have any interest in this super friendly country, you should go with A Travel

I decided to travel alone to Vietnam during Lunar New Year. Despite the difficulties due to the holiday season, Angelina Ms was able to arrange a perfect tour of 8 days including all the destinations I was interested to visit in the north of Vietnam. She was really responsive before and during the trip and able to solve little issues although not depending on her service in a very prompt way. Hotel, tours and suggestions were super good. I strongly suggest A Travel Mate and I will be back soon to Vietnam asking again for their help!

My husband and I dealt with Angelina Ms from A Travel Mate. She was friendly and easy to contact to whole way through. We were originally supposed to be on a 8 day tour but last minute fell sick with a gastro tummy bug and couldn’t start on the planned date. 8 days covering Hanoi/Halong Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi MInh City. We highly recommend using this company to organise a Vietnam tour if it’s a first time trip or under time pressure, we got to see a good variety of sites. We thoroughly enjoyed Vietnam and will be… Read more »

I am so impressed with this little company. %100 recommend to all. Easy. Fun. Will book again! I did my research before booking a trip.. Every other company had strict dates and nothing worked for me and my friends. The flexibility and open ended options made us choose a Travel mate, but the tours, tour guides and their office staff really made the trip super easy and stress free. We even misplaced our flight details and they emailed them to our hotel, had them printed and delivered within the day. We felt confident in our trip the whole time and… Read more »
