Thay and Tay Phuong pagodas are both historically significant Buddhist sites and are easily visited from Hanoi. The journey to Thay and Thay Phuong Pagodas takes you to the Buddhist atmosphere with hundreds status which reflect the highest local’s statuary.
08.00Thầy Pagoda (chùa Thầy) is located on the foot of Sài Sơn Mountain, Quốc Oai, Hanoi. The temple was built under the Lý Dynasty in 12 century, and is dedicated to Zen master (thiền sư Từ Đạo Hạnh 1072-1116). The pagoda is also known as the Thiên Phúc Tự (Pagoda of the Heavenly Blessing).The main complex is adorned with many interior statues which are reflected Zen master’ reincarnation story, statues of God and Buddha. Zen master is also being known as the teacher of water puppet performance of Vietnam which celebrate a festival on 5th of lunar March.

Located at 6kms away from Thay Pagoda is Tay Phuong Pagoda, one of the oldest in the country, Tay Phuong pagoda is another highest local’s statuary. Following a narrow path to the top of a hill, Tay Phuong pagoda offers beautiful architecture, ancient and unique sculptures.
Continue onto Tram Gian pagoda, dating from the 12th century, which offers incredible views of the surrounding countryside. Tram Gian, means pagoda of 100 rooms, was once the largest temple complex and is now a popular pilgrimage site.
Drive back to Hanoi and arrive in Hanoi at around 18:00 pm. End of services.
