Located 1,100 meters above sea level, Nguyen Binh district is the roof of Cao Bang province. Living in this only last and foremost natural forest of Cao Bang province are many groups of ethnic minorities such as Dzao, Tay, Nung, H’mong, Kinh, Ngai, Hoa with the subsistence livelihoods like growing precious medicinal plants, growing water rice in terrace fields, maize, raising poultries, build wooden houses, etc. Because of un-touching by tourists, people call Nguyen Binh a sleeping princess, still waiting for a prince to wake her up, like the mystery of Phia Oắc peak at 1,931m for a magnificent view, a giant grass hill of Phan Thanh commune, Kolia tea farm with Gate to heaven, a very large natural bamboo forest Truc Sao and colorful livelihood of minorities….Our 3 days itinerary will leave you with unforgettable memories of scenic landscapes and the rich biodiversity of the area which is considered the hidden gem of northern Vietnam.
6:00 Depart for Nguyen Binh district with our tour guide and driver. Through 2 hours high-way and then 2 hours in National Road No.3 and another 2 hours in mountain torturous road to Nguyen Binh district of Cao Bang province. Upon arrival Nguyen Binh district, we have first stop at Kolia tea farm for lunch before head toward Phja Oắc peak which is considered as the top roof of Northeast of Vietnam. After visit the magnificent view, we drive to Hoai Khao village where we stay tonight with the Coin Dzao ethnic group. Have dinner with family of Coin Dzao and overnight here.
Herbal foots soaking is a great experience in the evening. We just need only thirty minutes to soak foots in a wooden bow of warm water with traditional herb of Dzao minority that can kill the tired of the day and healing your physical for a great sleep.
7:30AM after breakfast, we have a leisure morning for a walk around the fairyland of Hoai Khao village, enjoying the peaceful area then walk 2,5km or motor bike to Bee Grotto where have plenty of natural giant bee nests. If elsewhere the product of the bee is honey, the Dao people in Hoai Khao only take beeswax for printing beeswax on the traditional costumes of the Dao ethnic group. Beeswax season is in Winter, the bees will have died or flied away to save food for their Queen, the local Coin Dzao will come to take beeswax. When the Spring comes, bee larvae will hatch into baby bees and continue their vibrant life cycle in hundreds of flowers bloom over the Phjia Oắc forest of Phjia Oắc National Park. It is said that, the bee nests here are older than the village so that they are seem the very secret with Coin Dzao spirit life.
After visiting the bee nests, we return our homestay for lunch then bit farewell the family to go to Ba Be national park.
14:00PM: we leave Hoai Khao behind for the next section, drive to Ba Be national park. Upon arrival we can check in a local house on stilts of Tay minority and enjoy the night here. Have dinner and overnight with Tay minority.
After breakfast, we check out with luggage and take a short drive to Buoc Luom pier, buy tickets then join the boat trip to explore Nang river. Boat stop at Puong grotto for photo then continue Nang river to go through under this mountain and Puong grotto to the downstream of the river. At a T Junction, we turn to Ba Be lake for visiting An Ma temple at An Ma islet, then stopping at Ba Goa islet before docking at Ba Be pier. Have lunch afterward.
In the afternoon, we drive straight to Hanoi. The tour end at around 19:00 PM.
